Old Christian traditions, reformed by medieval texts, assured that after the martyrdom, some disciples of Santiago collected their decapitated body and that they transferred it through all the Mediterranean and of the Atlantic coast Iberian until Iria Flavia, in the proximities of the present town Of Padrón. They made the crossing in the famous "stone boat", that perhaps would be one of the ships prepared for the transport of minerals that united Galicia with other zones of the Roman Empire. Today, in the church of Santiago de Padron the Pedrón is conserved. Tradition says that on that stone the boat of the Apostle was tied after the long journey.
The annual commemoration of the Traslatio through the Ría de Arousa, promoted by the Xacobea Route of the Sea of Arousa and Río Ulla, takes place at the end of July.
DESCRIPTION: Sea-river route by the Ría de Arousa and the Ulla River that commemorates the arrival to Galicia by sea, of the body of the Santiago Apostrophe and that evokes the Traslatio. This itinerary begins at the entrance of the Arousa estuary and ends at Padrón.
